ilanagoldman@sstte.org

Ilana Goldman is currently in her fourth year as a cantorial student at the HUC-JIR Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music in New York City. Originally from Ocean Township NJ, she spent her senior year of high school at Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan studying music and voice. Ilana went on to continue her education at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin where she received her BA in Music and Religious Studies with a minor in psychology. Her love of music, Judaism, and social justice led her to spend one summer in Novafeltria, Italy with La Musica Lirica, an opera training program, and one summer in Washington D.C. as a participant in the Religious Action Center’s Machon Kaplan program where she interned at the gun violence prevention organization, the Violence Policy Center.  Back on campus, Ilana served as the President of her Hillel where she initiated and led Shabbat services. She continued her Jewish campus work at Hillel International in Washington DC, where she worked as a Development Associate. Upon returning from her Year in Israel, Ilana served as the cantorial intern at Temple Micah in Washington D.C. for the past two years. Last summer she served as a Chaplain Intern at Bellevue Hospital in New York City, bringing music and prayer to patients in the psychiatric wards.Ilana lives in Kips Bay (in Manhattan) with her husband Alex. Ilana's perfect day would consist of going on a long run on the boardwalk, eating a potato knish at a Yankee game, and then attending a Broadway show. She is looking forward to being part of the Scarsdale Synagogue community under the mentorship of Cantor Becker!
